The new Vaio W netbook from Sony was unveiled today, to some surprise, to be released Stateside, at least, in August at that miraculous US$500 price point.

I just love how the W-series looks! It’s like Sony have taken a 2007-era FS-series notebook, downsized it, modernised a bit and added a chiclet keyboard. All up it looks very smart available in silver, or the rather interesting plum.

I have a new favourite netbook, it seems, besting the HP Mini. But we shall see when the time comes to handle one a bit more physically.
